Vector conversion

Convert EPS to PNG

Updated Jul 2026

Short answer

EPS is a vector format used for print and logos, and PNG is a raster image format used for screenshots, web graphics, and UI assets. To convert, open the EPS in a converter and export it as PNG at the pixel size you need. Doing this on your own computer keeps the design file off outside servers.

How to convert EPS to PNG

  1. Open Morphjet and drag in the EPS file, or a whole folder of them at once.
  2. Choose PNG as the output format and set the pixel dimensions you need, since PNG is a fixed-size image, not a scalable one.
  3. Convert. The PNGs are written next to your originals, and nothing leaves your machine.

EPS vs PNG: what actually changes

EPSPNG
Image typeVector, scales to any sizeRaster, fixed pixel size
File sizeSmall, doesn't grow with sizeLarger at high resolution, grows with pixel dimensions
QualityLossless at any scaleLossless, but locked to the resolution you export
TransparencyYes, background can be transparentYes, supports transparency
Opens everywhereNeeds design software or a print workflowYes, opens in any browser, app, or OS
Editable shapes and textYesNo, just pixels

When to convert, and when not to

Convert EPS to PNG when you need to drop a logo or illustration into a website, an app, or a document that doesn't read vector formats, or when someone just needs to view or share the image.

Keep the EPS original if the design might need to be resized later or handed off to a printer, since a PNG is locked to one resolution and starts to blur if you scale it up.

Why not just use an online converter?

EPS files are often logos or brand assets shared under some understanding of who gets to see them. Uploading one to an online converter sends that design to a server you don't control, with no real way to know what happens to it afterward. Converting on your own machine keeps the file, and whoever it belongs to, out of anyone else's hands.

Questions

Does converting EPS to PNG lose quality?

PNG is lossless, so you won't see compression artifacts. What you do lose is the ability to scale the image up afterward, so export at the largest size you're likely to need.

Will the PNG keep a transparent background?

Yes, if the EPS has a transparent or unfilled background, PNG can preserve that. If the EPS has a white background, the PNG will too, unless you edit it first.

Can I still edit the shapes and text after converting?

No. PNG is a raster format, so the paths and text in the EPS become fixed pixels. Keep the EPS if you'll need to edit the design later.

What size should I export the PNG at?

Since EPS scales infinitely and PNG doesn't, decide on the largest size you'll realistically need, like a print resolution or a high-res web image, and export at that size or larger.

Can I convert EPS to PNG without uploading the file?

Yes. A desktop app like Morphjet converts the file on your own computer, so the design never travels over the internet.
