Vector conversion
Convert EPS to AVIF
Updated Jul 2026
EPS is a vector format used for logos and print artwork, and AVIF is a compact image format built for the web. To convert EPS to AVIF, open the file in a converter, pick a pixel size, and export as AVIF. Doing this on your own computer means the artwork never has to be uploaded anywhere first.

How to convert EPS to AVIF
- Open Morphjet and drag in the EPS file, or a whole folder of them, at once.
- Choose AVIF as the output format and set the pixel dimensions you want the artwork rendered at.
- Convert. The AVIF file is written next to your original, and nothing leaves your machine.
EPS vs AVIF: what actually changes
| EPS | AVIF | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Vector, drawn from math and shapes | Raster, a fixed grid of pixels |
| Scales without blurring | Yes, to any size | No, fixed at the pixel size you export |
| File size | Small for simple artwork, but resolution-independent | Very small for its pixel dimensions |
| Quality | Lossless | Lossy, though usually hard to notice at normal settings |
| Transparency | Yes, in most EPS files | Yes |
| Opens everywhere | No, needs design software | Mostly, supported in current browsers and OSes |
When to convert, and when not to
Convert EPS to AVIF when you need a logo or piece of print artwork to load quickly on a website, in an app, or anywhere a small, modern image file matters more than the ability to resize it without limit.
Keep the EPS original if you'll ever need to resize the artwork, hand it to a printer, or edit the individual shapes, because once it's rasterized to AVIF that flexibility is gone for good.
Why not just use an online converter?
Company logos and unreleased artwork are exactly the kind of files people don't want sitting on someone else's server while they wait for a format conversion. An online converter has to receive your EPS file to process it. Converting on your own computer means the artwork is rendered locally and never has to travel anywhere.
Questions
Does converting EPS to AVIF lose quality?
The vector shapes themselves are lossless right up until the moment they're rasterized. After that, AVIF applies its own light compression, which is usually not visible at normal viewing sizes but is a real, one-time loss.
What pixel size should I export the AVIF at?
Pick the largest size you'll realistically need, since you can always scale an AVIF down later but not back up without blurring. For a logo, exporting at a few times its largest display size gives you room to spare.
Will the AVIF still be editable like the EPS was?
No. Once the vector shapes are rendered into pixels, the individual paths, fonts, and objects are gone. Keep the EPS around if you might need to edit the artwork again.
Does AVIF keep transparency from the EPS?
Yes. Most EPS files have a transparent background, and AVIF supports transparency, so it carries over cleanly instead of being filled in with white.
Can I convert EPS to AVIF without uploading the file anywhere?
Yes. A desktop app like Morphjet renders and converts the file on your own computer, so it never has to be sent over the internet.
Morphjet converts EPS, AVIF, and 1,800+ other formats, all on your machine. Launching this July.
