Convert CSV to PDF

Updated Jul 2026

Short answer

A CSV is a plain text file of rows and columns, the kind a spreadsheet program reads and writes. A PDF is a fixed, formatted document that looks the same on any screen or printer. To convert CSV to PDF, open the file in a converter and export it as a laid-out table. Doing this on your own computer keeps the raw data off other people's servers.

How to convert CSV to PDF

  1. Open Morphjet and drag in the CSV file, or a whole folder of them, you want to convert.
  2. Choose PDF as the output format.
  3. Convert. The PDF is written next to your original CSV, and nothing leaves your machine.

When to convert, and when not to

Convert CSV to PDF when you need to send someone a table that looks the same no matter what device or program they open it with, print it, or attach it to a report.

Keep the CSV if you or anyone downstream still needs to sort, filter, or recalculate the data, because a PDF is a snapshot and isn't meant to be edited or read back into a spreadsheet.

Why not just use an online converter?

CSV files often hold the kind of data people don't want floating around, customer lists, financial figures, survey answers. An online converter has you upload that raw file to a server you don't control before handing back a PDF. Converting on your own computer means the spreadsheet data never leaves your machine, uploaded or otherwise.

Questions

Does converting CSV to PDF change any of the numbers?

No, the values themselves aren't altered. What changes is that the data goes from an editable, unlimited table to a fixed page layout, so very wide tables may get shrunk or wrapped to fit.

Can I edit the PDF afterward like a spreadsheet?

Not really. A PDF is a fixed document, not live data, so to change a number you'd edit the original CSV and convert it again.

What happens if my CSV has a lot of columns?

The columns still all show up, but they may be shrunk or wrapped across multiple pages so the table fits the page width. It's worth checking the result if your file is unusually wide.

Can I convert a CSV to PDF without uploading it anywhere?

Yes. A desktop app like Morphjet does the conversion on your own computer, so the file never travels over the internet.

Does the PDF keep any formatting from my spreadsheet program?

It keeps the rows and columns as data, but not custom fonts, colors, or cell formatting you may have added in a spreadsheet app, since that's a different file format entirely.
