When to convert, and when not to
Convert AVIF to PSD when you need to open a web image in Photoshop or a similar editor to retouch it, add layers, or drop it into a larger design.
Keep the AVIF if you're just displaying the image on a website or in an app, since PSD files are far larger and most viewers can't open them at all.
